People who can benefit from companionship include those with mild dementia, frailty, depression, or loss of faculty. Sometimes, they may just need someone to converse with or help with household management needs. No matter your family’s specific needs, we can provide assistance.
From meal prepping and light housekeeping to playing games for mental stimulation and more, our companion caregivers offer several services that help keep seniors active and engaged while living at home. Companion care could help ease your loved one’s comfort and improve their health.
Most seniors want to be independent and will welcome live-in care only if they feel good about the chemistry. That’s why, at LifeWorx, we focus on finding a caregiver who really “clicks” with your loved one. We assess the caregiver’s communication skills, as well as the activities they can offer your loved one, like playing word games and cards or suggesting films to watch together.
If your loved one needs companion care but is resistant to the idea, we recommend starting small and getting him or her deeply involved in the selection process. Many times, families try to dictate what should be done for their elder without getting his or her consent. They figure he or she will simply go along with the change, but this generally backfires. Why? Because seniors are smarter—and more stubborn—than family members give them credit for! Instead, be candid and upfront, sharing your concerns.
One way is to say, “I think you could use someone to keep you company and help you out.” Start with just a few hours a week of companion care and see how the relationship develops over time. Once your loved one and their companion have bonded, it will become increasingly easier to transition to live-in companionship.
Our patented software enables us to search to find the best caregivers. We then match them with families in need based on skills, background, references, and personality. Our team uses these processes daily and we’ve provided elder care service to more than 5,000 families in the Tri-State area
We make our interview process rigorous for a reason. We see the true joy in caring, so we ensure that any caregiver we employ sees it, too. It’s an essential part of joining the LifeWorx team.
We place a high value on compassion, warmth and the courage to do the right thing. Our live-in caregivers are battle-tested. Our process intentionally rules out those looking for an easy job, way to check out all day or be on their phone
Having served thousands of clients over the past 15 years, we have only had two falling incidences while in the care of a caregiver. In one situation, the nurse cared enough to get hurt in the process of saving the client from falling. We seek this level of care when hiring all of our private duty personal care aides and in-home caregivers. For this reason, our clients have called us, a trusted caregiver agency, for years.
